1. Answer all questions.

 

2. This exam is open book, but not open contact.  This means you may consult any written materials you want, including the internet, but not communicate with anyone. Direct any questions to your instructor.

 

3. Prepare a Cover Sheet for your work and attach it to a printout of your answers.  Include the question with your answer. The cover sheet must include your name, today's date, the subject matter (Final Exam), the course number and course title, the academic term and year, and the instructor's name.

 

4. You must complete the exam in one sitting. This means you must turn in your exam before leaving the room.

 


 

Question 1 (2 points). Terminology. Briefly (in no more than 3 typewritten lines for each numbered each item) explain what any 4 of the following terms mean and why they are important. Question 2. (3 points) IP Convergence and eBusiness.  Consider the Figure below and the discussion in IP Convergence: C&W Article. Then explain briefly (in 5-7 typewritten lines for each item) what the articles mean by:

Question 3. (4 points) Global IT Systems. Several of the articles we have reviewed in this class present Globalization and Global eCommerce within a historical perspective and a structured framework.

Part A. Quote a total of 7 specific arguments presented in the articles below that demonstrate the role of global IT systems in any mix of the following:

(a) enabling increases in productivity;

(b) decreasing waste;

(c) tempering cyclical disruptions;

(d) flushing out information bottlenecks;

(e) fostering innovation and pre-empting structural obsolescence;

(f) facilitating objective decision making; and

(g) enhancing the quality of life of all peoples around the world.

Part B. Cite the specific article, page and paragraph in which the argument appears.

Question 4. (1 point) Career Planning. Give an example of a job description currently posted on the internet that pays more than $75,000 per year and requires global Information Systems skills. Specifically, list:

 

(a) a representative salary range for the position;

(b) the educational requirements for the position;

(c) the titles of one or two intermediary positions that would serve well as a     stepping stone to the position you have identified,

(d) the typical professional experience needed to get hired for the position.
