Problem: A Powerpoint 2000 user tried to prepare a .ppt presentation for distribution on a CD-ROM using the File:Pack and Go feature of Powerpoint 2000 and ecountered the error below.

Microsoft PowerPoint

PowerPoint has discovered a problem with one of the presentation filenames and cannot create the package file. You should correct the filename, then restart the Pack and Go Wizard.

Due Date: Wednesday, September 19, 2001, 4:30 pm.

Report Format: Write a one page report in which you document the SPECIFIC steps you took to reproduce the problem and research your solution. Attach screenshots that show you editing autoexec.bat to fix the problem as explained in the KB article. Attach a printout of the MS Knowledge Base article that explains how to correct the problem. Also how a screen shot of Powerpoint with the dialog box displayed that shows that the Powerpoint was successfully packed. Add a cover sheet to your work.

Solution Steps:

1. Try to reproduce the problem on a PC with PowerPoint 2000 intstalled. Document what you did and found in your report
2. Search the Microsoft Knowledge Base for a solution to the problem.
3. Print out the MS-KB article that documents how to fix the problem.
4. Implement the change in autoexec.bat.
5. Show that the Pack And Go feature now works properly.
6. Document your work in your write-up.
