Objective: Fdisk and Format a hard-drive, and install an operating system.
Project Dependencies: You will need the startup floppy disk and field service CD-ROM your created in Operating System Installation - Part 1, and use your fdisk and format documentation from Part 1 also.
Tip: Article ID: Q221829
Tasks:
1. Important: Check and change the BIOS settings as needed to boot from a floppy disk first, then a CD-ROM. Make sure your BIOS is NOT set to try to boot from drive C: first, before going to the floppy and CD-ROM drive.
2. Break your PC case open and remove the network adapter. Store the network adapter grounded inside the case, but away from the motherboard. Protect your network adapter from ESD (electrostatic discharge - a ruinous 20,000 - 70,000 Volt zap).
3. Boot the PC from the startup disk you created in Part 1.
4. Fdisk and format your hard-drive. Follow the instructions from your write-up in Part 1.
5. Install the OS from the field service CD-ROM.
